Joshua “Josh” Galarneau

President

Building and design have been part of Josh Galarneau’s life from the very beginning. As a third-generation home builder, Josh grew up on job sites, “helping” his father and grandfather frame additions with toy hammers and saws by the age of six.

Josh earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil (Structural) Engineering from Tufts University in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999.

He began his career at DeSimone Consulting Engineers in New York City, where he designed complex steel and concrete structures for high-rise apartments, hotels, and casinos across the United States.

In 2005, Josh returned home to join his father, Lou, and uncle, Ric, at Galarneau Builders. Together, they completed dozens of custom homes and commercial projects between 2005 and 2011.

Seeking new challenges, Josh transitioned to Sano-Rubin Construction in 2012, managing large-scale commercial projects. In 2015, he joined Goldman Sachs as Vice President and Director of Real Estate, leading the design and construction of a new 150,000-square-foot headquarters for Ayco, a Goldman Sachs company. Over five years, Josh oversaw every phase—from site selection and lease negotiation to design, construction, and final fit-out—culminating in the project’s completion in 2020.

Josh’s next chapter brought him to Phinney Design Group in Saratoga Springs during the post-COVID building boom. As Director of Construction Management, he oversaw approximately 25 luxury residential projects throughout Lake George and the Adirondacks, ranging from $3 million to $10 million in value. Each home required meticulous attention to detail and close collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, and designers.

In August 2025, Josh returned to Galarneau Builders as President, proud to carry forward the company’s 45-year family legacy. His broad experience—spanning structural engineering, commercial construction, and high-end residential construction—positions Galarneau Builders for continued excellence and growth in the years ahead.
